Top 10 Records of 2007
November 30, 2007, 12:42 pm
Filed under: good tunes, misc, top 10

Is it to early to say? Maybe. But I have a hard enough time finding new music that excites me. So here is a list of ten albums I loved this year. They will be listed in number order but this does not reflect the ranking really except #1.

10. Bad Brains-Build A Nation

Tons of people hated on this record because of H.R’S vocals. but fuck that the music was still awesome and it sounded like a Bad Brains record what more could you ask for.

9. Coliseum- No Salvation

Raw, Angry, Dirty, Heavy what more could you want.

8. Portugal The Man- Church Mouth

This Album was fucking rocking start to finish. Kind of southern twang almost maybe? I don’t know but this record is hot fire.

7. Hot Cross-Risk Revival

Another record Hot Cross fans hated on. I fucking loved it. it was a good combo of A New Set Of Lungs mixed with Fairtrades.

6. Poison The Well- Versions

This was the saving grace for this band. It doesn’t compare to their seminal album Opposite of December, but this record was progressive with an almost Snapcase vibe. Haters should give this one a listen.

5. Explosions In The Sky- All Of The Sudden I Miss Everyone

Did you expect anything less from this band? Great record.

4. Every Time I Die- The Big Dirty

Makes me want to drink….in the good way.

3. As Tall As Lions- Into the Flood

Some of the most beautiful music. I highly suggest you pick this up. 4.95 on ITunes.

2. Jimmy Eat World- Chase The Light

This band never disappoints. This album has not left my cd player in months.

1. Minus The Bear- Planet Of Ice

This is by far my favorite record of 2007. I really have no words to describe how much i love this album. i can listen to it 10 times in a row and still not get enough.

Records i wish i spent more time with:

Pinback, Pelican, Les Savy Fav

I might have forgotten some record so remind me if I did.

So on Friday morning my wonderful girlfriend told me that she had gotten us tickets to Jimmy Eat World and obviously i was super excited. Long story short they blew me the fuck away. They were amazing. Awesome set list including my all time favorite song “Crush”. They Also played a part of “GoodBye Sky Harbor” which is quite possibly one of the best songs ever written. The show was at Terminal 5 which is a new venue in NYC. The place was big and had awesome sound but past that i wasn’t to into the venue. This show eclipses the time i saw The Mars Volta at the North Six in Brooklyn a few years back. Seriously if you have the chance to catch them on this tour please do. Also pick up their new record “Chase The Light”, i love it. and of course if you dont own the masterpiece known as “Clarity” buy that one first, in my eyes this is one of the best records ever recorded sonically and musically.

ATTN: Tom Delonge…You Are Not Saving Music With Angels And Airwaves.

     to

Someone really needs to let him know this. In all of his interviews about angels and airwaves he thinks that its some crazy musical endeavor that will change the face of rock and roll, to bad its Blink-182 with a delay pedal. The dude is seriously off his rocker, and most defiantly needs to get the fuck over himself. I am a big Blink fan (fuck the haters) and i have no problem admitting that but for some reason Tom Delonge thinks hes above Punk Rock now. He feels the need to try and tie in some deep message with his half rate “Rock” band. If you have ever listened to Blink 182 or angels and airwaves for that matter you know that he isn’t exactly the greatest song writer (in a musical sense) and by far not the greatest singer, but for some reason thinks hes a musical god. So what exactly the point of this? Basically to shine light on the fact that someone can be so into themselves to think/try to fool people into thinking he is a musical genius. And if we are talking post Blink bands +44 stupid name and all put out a better more honest record. yea i said it. Anyway lets go back to a better time with  Blink-182 -“Josie”
